Dear Engineering, I am going to buy some instrumrnts to improve my measurement, will you help me? I am going to measure a fast-decayed (whthin 1 microsecond) optical signal (noise is large) and its repetitive frequency is about 10 Hz. I have set up an optical system, but the signal I got is not good enough. I use a Newfocus 1801 as the photodetector and its output is averaged by Agilent54616b oscilloscope. If I use a preamplifier (such as model 5185) after the photodector and use boxcar averager to replace the oscilloscope, will the better results obtained? Thank you for your help. By the way, waht is the prices of the two instruments?
