The 9547 was designed to generate an analog voltage out proportional to the linear ratio of two applied analog voltages. It was used with two lock-in amplifiers to perform real-time compensation for source intensity fluctuations. Nowadays the same job is either done with the lock-in's built-in ratio calculation or in a controlling computer
